Reptiles (lat. Reptilia):

Reptiles are typically pentadactyle, air-breathing vertebrates. They are ectothermic or cold-blooded animals so they have no internal mechanism for producing metabolic heat needed to maintain a constant body temperature independent of the temperature of their surroundings. The scaly skins cannot respiratory and minimise the water loss. There body absorbs the water from their own urine so they can colonise arid regions.

The reptiles are split into 4 groups:
  • Crocodiles (Order Crocodylidae)
  • Turtles and Tortoises (Order Testudines)
  • Lizards (Order Squamata, Suborder Sauria)
  • Snakes (Order Squamata, Suborder Serpentes
